Who is responsible

DailyPush is operated by Sara as a personal website. I am the data controller for the limited personal data described here. I am not a registered company; this is a personal blog with a contact form and optional analytics cookies. What this site collects

Most of DailyPush is static. You can read the journal, about page and posts without giving me any information. I only collect personal data when you choose to send a message through the contact form, or when you turn on optional measurement cookies in the banner.

Contact form. When you submit the form on the contact page, I receive your name, email address, message text, and a record that you ticked the consent checkbox. I do not ask for your NRIC, payment details, or other sensitive categories of data, and you should not send them.

Cookies. If you accept optional analytics, a third-party analytics tool may set cookies to help me understand aggregate traffic — for example, which posts are read most often. If you reject optional analytics, those cookies are not set. A separate essential cookie stores your cookie preference itself so the banner does not reappear on every visit. That preference cookie is kept for six months, as stated in the banner.

Server logs. Like most websites, the hosting provider may automatically log technical data such as IP address, browser type, and pages requested. I do not use those logs to build profiles of individual readers.

Why I use your data

I process contact-form data so I can read your message and reply if a reply is needed — for example, to correct a factual error you spotted, or to answer a question about an entry. The legal basis under the Personal Data Protection Act 2012 (PDPA) is your consent, which you give by ticking the checkbox before sending the form. Consent is not pre-ticked; you must actively opt in.

Optional analytics helps me understand whether anyone reads this site at all and which entries travel furthest. I use that information only to improve the blog — not to sell data, not to send marketing emails, and not to build advertising profiles. If you reject analytics, the site still works fully for reading and contacting me.

Who sees your data

Contact messages go to my personal email inbox. I do not share your details with advertisers, data brokers, or mailing-list services. My hosting and email providers may process data on my behalf as technical processors — for example, to deliver email or serve the website — but they do not use your message content for their own marketing.

I will not disclose your personal data to third parties except where required by law or where you have clearly asked me to (for example, if you write "please forward this to…" and I agree).

Retention

I keep contact-form messages only as long as needed to respond and for a reasonable period afterwards in case follow-up is required — typically up to twelve months, unless the message relates to an ongoing correction or a longer conversation you and I are having. After that, I delete or anonymise the message. Cookie preference records expire after six months, after which the banner will ask for your choice again.

Analytics data, if enabled, is kept according to the analytics provider's settings, which I configure to use the shortest practical retention window.

Your rights under the PDPA

Under Singapore's PDPA, you have rights regarding your personal data, including the right to access, correct, and withdraw consent. You may also request that I stop collecting, using, or disclosing your data, subject to legal and practical limits.

To exercise any of these rights, email me at [email protected] with enough detail for me to find your message. I will respond within a reasonable time. If you withdraw consent for contact-form processing, I will stop using your data for new replies, but I may retain a minimal record if needed to show that I handled a prior request.

Cookies in detail

When you first visit, a banner offers three choices: Accept all, Reject all, or Customise. Accept all enables optional analytics cookies in addition to the essential preference cookie. Reject all stores only the essential preference cookie with analytics disabled. Customise lets you toggle analytics separately before saving.

You can change your mind by clearing cookies in your browser or revisiting after the six-month preference expires. The site does not use cookies to track you across other websites.

Children

DailyPush is written for a general adult audience. I do not knowingly collect personal data from children under thirteen through the contact form. If you are a parent or guardian and believe a child submitted data, contact me and I will delete it.

Security

I take reasonable steps to protect data — HTTPS on the live site, a simple honeypot field to reduce spam bots, and an inbox I check personally rather than an automated pipeline. No method of transmission over the internet is perfectly secure; please do not send confidential information you would not put in an ordinary email.

Changes to this notice

If I change how the site handles data — for example, if I add a newsletter — I will update this page and the "Last updated" date above. Material changes will be reflected in the cookie banner where relevant.
